Vintage B&L Ray-Ban The General 62mm Sunglasses
Up for sale are the most iconic pair of sunglasses in the vintage Ray-Ban range, The General.
Introduced to mark the 50th anniversary of Ray-Ban, The General celebrates General Douglas Macarthur, Commander-In-Chief of Allied Forces in the Pacific during the 2nd World War and one of the most famous early wearers of Ray-Ban sunglasses.
They are the Arista gold frame variant with glass RB-50 lenses, pearl coloured sweat bar, nose pads and ear paddles.
The RB-50 lens is the most technically progressive lens in the Ray-Ban range combining light and temperature sensitivity, contrast enhancement, true colouyr transmission and advanced titanium and magnseium surface coatings. Suitable for general leisure wear and for the toughest glare conditions.Approx. 148mm wide from hinge to hinge.Markings present, which includes stamps to top and bottom of the brow bar, white Ray-Ban 50 cursive italic signature, stamps to the interior and exterior of the temples and model stamp to ear paddle. The frame is in super condition. The temples are straight and true.The 62mm sized lenses are etched at the standard hinge point position and are in excellent condition. The lenses are virtually free from any marks. Any marks present are extremely light and insignificant.A beautiful example for both end user and collector.
